15:45 – 17:35 Face off – Warping with Accumulated Motion Vectors
Venue: Anaheim Convention Center, Room 304 AB
From facial lacerations that follow slight stretching of the skin to deformations of hard-bodied objects or subtle nuances of water simulations, Gregory Keech (R&D Lead – pictured above) talks about this method which automatically warps an image across a sequence from any arbitrary frame to any other using accumulated motion vectors, minimising the keyframes needed to produce high-quality results. Submission paper co-authored with Dneg R&D’s Stephen Willey.

Chus Rodriguez Nieto (R&D Developer – pictured) explains how migrating our production-proven rigging platform over to a flexible, DCC-agnostic framework results in better rig performance and shorter turnaround times, ensuring that the demands of both VFX and animated features can be met. Submission paper co-authored with Dneg’s Theo Facey (Global Creature Supervisor) and Sylvain Brugnot (R&D Lead).
