High-end Animated Feature Films

Feature Animation at DNEG

Set up in 2014, DNEG’s Feature Animation division works in tandem with IP creators and filmmakers to create high-end animated features, based out of DNEG’s London HQ.

The team is led by Tom Jacomb, who has many years of experience as Associate Producer and Line Producer on full CG Animated Feature Films, having previously built two feature animation studios in London and Vancouver.

Tom joined DNEG from Dreamworks where he was Associate Producer on Oscar nominated animated feature Puss in Boots (which grossed over $580m at the worldwide box office and spawned a brand new franchise) and the critically acclaimed Rise of the Guardians (which grossed over $300m).

Our Feature Animation division collaborates with filmmakers and IP owners to create high-end animated feature films. We are currently in production on two major animated features.

DNEG and Locksmith Animation

Founded by producer and director Sarah Smith (left) and producer Julie Lockhart (right), alongside Elisabeth Murdoch (centre), Locksmith Animation’s ambition is to become a UK contemporary for US animation giants Disney-Pixar and DreamWorks. The new studio is backed by DNEG, and we are proud to be Locksmith’s digital production partner.

Locksmith, which has a worldwide multi-picture output deal with 20th Century Fox, is already in production on its first project Ron’s Gone Wrong, which is slated for a November 2020 release. Directed by JP Vine, a veteran Pixar story artist, the film is about the friendship between an 11-year-old boy and a malfunctioning robot in a world of digital connectivity and social media.
