ROTO PREP ARTISTS’ MANAGER
The volume and complexity of roto and plate prep work has grown exponentially within the VFX industry. Dneg’s 2d team reflects this growth with a current Roto Prep team of approximately 60 artists in London alone. This is one of the most exciting groups of artists to work with at Dneg, as it consists of highly motivated graduates and artists who have retrained to focus on VFX; their progress is often fast-paced, leading to rapid movement within the 2D team. To provide appropriate support managing this team, we are looking for a Roto Prep Artists’ Manager to join the 2D Heads of Department.

Key Purpose of the Job
Responsible for developing Rotoscoping, Plate Preparation and Paint talent within Dneg. Taking a leading role in recruitment, scheduling, reviews and training strategy in order to cultivate our fantastic team of 2D Roto/Prep artists, in an ever-expanding team.
Needs To Do
- Work with the Resource Manager to ensure that new hires and existing artists are scheduled into the correct roles on appropriate shows whilst also establishing recruitment needs
- Focus on leveraging talent therefore ensuring artists are consistently motivated and evolving in their roles and that we are fully utilising and developing skills available
- Work with the 2D Trainer and HR to carry out training needs analysis across the business to ensure appropriate training material and courses are designed. Consistently evaluating the effectiveness of this training
- Conduct performance and salary reviews with HR and feeding back relevant information into the scheduling process
- Work with Recruitment team to liase with universities, interview 2D artists globally, review showreels and provide constructive feedback
- Work collaboratively with Head of 2D, 2D Compositing Artists’ Manager, HR Manager and Resource Manager with respect to overall 2D strategy and initiatives
Needs To Know
- Advanced experience in using Silhouette and Nuke
- Proven track record of interpreting resourcing and training needs and delivering results
- Evidence of being a leader or role model at a team level
- Understand the needs and demands of a production driven environment
