Key Purpose of the Job
Design, write and maintain RenderMan shaders.
Needs To Do
- The position of Shader Writer requires someone with a thorough knowledge of Pixar's PhotoRealistic RenderMan, with several years of experience in a similar role. Successful applicants will have solid mathematical skills, a thorough knowledge of shading algorithms, look-dev and lighting. You will interact daily with the Shading Team and your show's CG Supervisor and contribute to the extension and maintainance of the company's shading pipeline.
Needs To Know
- Thorough knowledge of Pixar's PhotoRealistic RenderMan and RSL.
- Experience with writing DSOs and shaders using Python, RSL and C++.
- High level mathematical skills. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience with HDRI, Global Illumination, BRDFs and point-based workflows.
- Cgfx and glsl experience is a plus.
- Ability to create practical, optimized, art-directable solutions.
- Ability to deliver pipeline-ready workflows.
- Familiarity with pipeline issues, look-dev and lighting.
- Knowledge of Maya.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
