DNEG artists contributed to 4 out of the 5 movies shortlisted for the ‘Visual Effects’ BAFTA

2019 EE BAFTA shortlist announced

We are thrilled and proud to let you know that four out of the five shortlisted shows in the ‘Visual Effects’ category for the 2019 EE BAFTA awards featured VFX by DNEG artists!

Congratulations to all of our artists and crews who worked on the following BAFTA-nominated shows:

  • First Man
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Black Panther
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

For more details about DNEG’s work on each of these movies, visit our show pages.

Special congratulations to DNEG’s VFX Supervisor Paul Lambert and Tristan Myles, DFX Supervisor, who were both named in the BAFTA nomination for First Man – Damien Chazelle’s epic moon landing blockbuster.

As lead VFX partner on First Man, Paul and team used a blend of cutting-edge in-camera VFX techniques, special effects, scale models, and never-before-seen footage from NASA’s archive to tell the story of Neil Armstrong’s journey to the Moon and back. Check out this featurette for a peek behind the scenes.

Other recent successes

Just last week, First Man won the Best VFX category at the Houston Film Critics Society Awards, as well as an award at The Capri, Hollywood International Film Festival.
