We’re always proud to see the progress of our former Greenlight trainees as they move to the next stages of their careers. Recently we caught up with Karis Handy to hear a little more about how the programme helped her to move into her new Layout TD role at DNEG!
“What interested me most about the programme was that there was nothing else like it being offered,” Karis told us. “Not only is it rare to be offered the opportunity to learn from experienced artists, but specifically within Layout/Shoot/VP, there aren’t many opportunities available. I found the whole experience amazing! Everyone I worked with was so supportive and eager to teach. The past six months have truly changed my life and put me in an amazing position for my career.”
DNEG’s Greenlight Training programme supports talented graduates and junior professionals who are looking to take their first steps in the VFX industry. Our dedicated programme immerses future VFX artists in a live production environment, coupled with classroom training, project work and mentorship from our department leads, supervisors and internal trainers.
We also took the chance to ask Karis about where she saw herself headed in her future career.
“Becoming a Layout TD felt like a great accomplishment. It was the aspect of the programme I enjoyed and had been most interested in, and I knew it was where I wanted my career to go. So I was extremely pleased to be offered the position at the end! I’m really looking forward to building on what I learnt, and taking on more responsibility in the role whilst working on exciting projects,” Karis said.
“For my future career, I want to stay within Layout – it is a really exciting part of the pipeline that is both creative and technical. And currently my plan is to develop my skills – long-term, I would love to keep on progressing within the department.”
Congratulations to Karis on joining us as our newest Layout TD – we’re thrilled to have you on board!
