Celebrating Dune, Bond, Venom and Ron’s Gone Wrong!

DNEG is lead VFX partner on four of the top five movies at the North American box office this weekend

Results like this don’t come along often – so we’re pleased to celebrate the fact that DNEG was lead VFX partner on four out of the top five films at the US box office this weekend!

As you’d expect, the epic Dune led the pack with a $40.1 million debut in North America (after totalling an impressive $180.6 million overseas), exceeding the predictions for its opening range even while debuting on streaming platform HBO Max alongside the theatrical release.

Our next smash hit? No Time to Die saw James Bond going strong in its third weekend, adding $11.9 million to its grand total of £525.7 million. Alongside F9: The Fast Saga (now, where have we heard that name before?…) it’s one of the only two Hollywood films to surpass the $500 million mark globally this year.

Following on from Daniel Craig’s final outing, Venom: Let There Be Carnage racked up another $9.1 million in North America during its fourth week, coming to a global box-office total of $352.4 million.

And last but by no means least as a member of the top five, we were thrilled to see Ron’s Gone Wrong garnering a weekend debut of $7.3 million in North America to add to its $17.3 million total globally – as well as an A-grade from CinemaScore and an ‘80% Fresh’ rating from RottenTomatoes.

A massive congratulations to all our teams for their amazing contributions to these stand-out movies – we think your work is incredible and it looks like the general public agrees!
