Mark Pascoe, DNEGTV’s CG Supervisor takes us on a journey of how the iconic shots in The Young Pope were brought to life with seamless VFX using Clarisse. Mark explores the technical set- up of the opening shot in the series to populating the Vatican with almost 100,000 extras.

Amanda Johnstone-Batt, 3D Sequence Supervisor at DNEG, talks us through using Clarisse to create hoards of attacking spaceships and intricate cities on Star Trek Beyond.
16:00-17:00 Raphael Hamm’s Secret Nuke Kitchen
Venue: The Foundry Suite, Raum Heilbronn
Double Negative’s 2D Sequence Supervisor Raphael Hamm makes a homecoming appearance to Stuttgart for FMX! Raphael will present his recent work using Nuke and shares a few fireproofed compositing tricks he used on some of the biggest recent Hollywood releases, including the magical Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

16:00-17:00 Creatures in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Venue: Houdini Suite, Raum Mannheim
Laurie Priest, FX Supervisor at DNEG, will give an overview of our creature work on the BAFTA nominated Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. From the majestic Thunderbird to the dark and disturbing Obscurus, Laurie will talk about the creative challenges encountered and the use of Houdini over the course of the project.

11:00-12:00 Darkness in Motion: Animating Gore Verbinski’s ‘A Cure For Wellness’
Venue: Meidinger-Saal
Double Negative’s Animation Supervisor on A Cure For Wellness Ben Wiggs walk us through the creature animation work on Gore Verbinski’s surreal thriller. From wounded deer to jars of eels, the animation team was tasked with dialling in just the right amount of creepiness, strangeness and down-right brutality to fit the film’s macabre feel.
