DNEG IXP x WIRED Japan!

Get a Closer Look at Our New Department

We were thrilled to welcome WIRED Japan to our London studio to talk about DNEG IXP!

Earlier this month, journalist Asuka Kawanabe met with DNEG IXP Managing Director Josh Mandel to learn more about our new division, which we launched in February 2024.

As DNEG IXP is focused on developing, crafting and delivering high-quality immersive experiences across a variety of formats, it was the perfect fit for the latest edition of WIRED Japan, with it’s theme of “Spatial × Computing” – dedicated to exploring the emerging technology fields that combine the physical and the digital in the 3D space!

Meeting at our London studio, Asuka and Josh discussed the applications of this emerging technology, including the challenges of balancing realism and emotion, and the opportunities that come with developing immersive worlds.

When speaking on the long term vision for DNEG IXP, Josh shared, “DNEG’s goal is to move emotions. We pursue realism in 2D images because it moves people’s hearts, not for the sake of realism itself. Our creative, visionary artists are considering how to apply the technology they have developed to create 2D content that moves emotions to 3D space. It’s always the creative impulse that drives technology forward.”
