DNEG TV takes on Fungus the Bogeyman

Produced by Imaginarium Studios, in partnership with DNEG TV

Sky 1 announced the commissioning of Raymond Briggs’ classic family story, Fungus the Bogeyman to be produced by Imaginarium Studios, in partnership with DNEG TV.

The 4 x 60 series will comprise both live action and animated elements to bring the well-loved book to life. The series will debut this Christmas and will be internationally distributed by Sky Vision.

This charming family adventure is a story of smelly monsters, dangerous humans and what happens when the things that go bump in the night move in next door…

We follow Fungus as he goes through his paces, menacing and frightening those on the surface (the “Dry Cleaners”) as Bogeymen are meant to do and have always done. Unlike other Bogeyman, Fungus has to navigate his world colliding with our above ground world.

Over the course of the four episodes Fungus and his son Mould journey through the maze of life on the surface, while also discovering the highs and lows of their father and son relationship.

Said DNEG TV VFX Supervisor Hayden Jones ‘It’s a great honour to work on such an amazing and much-loved character and we’re delighted to be working with Imaginarium Studios to bring Fungus and his world to life’

This announcement continues an amazing few weeks for DNEG TV with audience and critical favourites Remember Me, Esio Trot and Professor Branestawm all airing on the BBC and their work on ITV’s Mr Selfridge (Series 2) being nominated for best VFX at the Royal Television Society Awards.

This month DNEG TV’s work appears in BBC’s Death in Paradise (with DNEGTV’s Harry the Lizard!) and Mr Selfridge Series 3 for ITV.
