Congratulations to our Dune and Foundation teams!
We’re thrilled to share that Dune has picked up the ‘Gold’ award in the ‘Feature Film VFX’ category and that Foundation has received a ‘Special Merit’ in the ‘TV Series’ category at the 2022 Australian Effects & Animation Festival (AEAF), announced earlier today during the Awards Ceremony in Sydney’s Chauvel Cinema.
Our talented VFX teams served as lead VFX partner on Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, delivering nearly 1,200 shots of the film’s 1,700 total, and crafting what esteemed DNEG collaborator Christopher Nolan has called, “One of the most seamless marriages of live action photography and computer generated visual effects that I’ve seen”. For their extraordinary work, our team received the ‘Best Visual Effects’ Academy Award and BAFTA for outstanding visual effects, as well as four VES Awards earlier this year.
Huge congratulations goes to Production VFX Supervisor Paul Lambert, DNEG’s Dune VFX Supervisors Tristan Myles and Brian Connor, and everyone else involved in bringing this incredible film to the screen. We’re honoured to see our team’s work recognized with this AEAF honour.

On Foundation, our talented Episodic team served as lead VFX partner, delivering 1,050 shots throughout the series’ 10 episodes. To bring the legendary sci-fi writer Isaac Asimov’s ideas to the screen, our DNEG team delivered exceptional work across all elements of the visual effects process — including Previs, Postvis, MGFX and Virtual Production — as well as highly complicated VFX sequences. For their contributions, our Foundation team received two VES Awards earlier this year.
Hearty congratulations to our incredible Foundation team, led by DNEG’s Foundation VFX Supervisor Chris Keller, alongside Production VFX Supervisor Chris MacLean. We’re thrilled to see the continued recognition of your achievements.
