As an Animator with DNEG’s Feature Animation team you’ll bring the characters to life with your strong knowledge of anatomy and movements and use acting skills to communicate ideas an audience can empathises with. It’s also required that all our animators have the ability to anticipate, communicate and troubleshoot technical issues that may arise.
Assistant Technical Director (ATD)
As an Assistant Technical Director (ATD) you will perform a variety of tasks to assist the Pipeline Technical Directors (Pipeline TDs) to ensure the smooth running of the tools, software and workflows used on our award-winning VFX and Feature Animation shows. You will be working closely with the Pipeline TDs to provide face-to-face support for artists.
Working closely with the Character FX Artists at DNEG, you will seek to understand the director’s vision for cloth/hair and fur on our Feature Animation projects.
You will create and run simulations for hair/cloth/fur using Maya/Houdini. You will work collaboratively with your team to find the best technical and creative solutions in order to meet production needs and produce simulations that matches the high quality vision for our projects.
Our Matte Painters work closely with the Matte Painting Supervisor to understand the Art Direction of the film. You will create detailed matte painted elements, using projections and illustrations that are to be used to create believable environments. Using your understanding of perspective, lighting and colour to produce work that fits with the style of the project. You will also be collaborating with other departments such as Build and Lighting to get the best results from your work.
Production Supervisors at DNEG manage the day-to-day operation of the production including crew scheduling, department scheduling and tracking. You will also beresponsible for ensuring the projected parameters for production goals, quotas and schedule are met and/or reset as required for your department.
Rough Layout Artist
As a Rough Layout Artist with our Feature Animation team you will create shots and sequences, telling the story through the application of both traditional and CG filmmaking principles. Working alongside our team of Rough Layout Artists, you’ll establish camera position, camera movement and character blocking.
