The Cornetto Trilogy
Having already worked on Shaun of The Dead and Hot Fuzz, DNEG once again took the lead on visual effects for The World’s End, the final instalment in Edgar Wright’s ‘Cornetto Trilogy’
Double Negative worked on approximately 300 shots. These included numerous fight sequences in which the Blanks are decapitated (The blanks resemble action figures so their heads pop off like aspirin bottles and arms are pulled off and used as bludgeons). The main share of the work was in creating decapitations for these fight sequences (achieved through a blend of Digital VFX and Practical Prosthetics), a CG 15ft bronze statue wreaking havoc in the town, a huge plasma shockwave that destroys the town, flame effects, a confrontation with an Alien Supreme being who gives a 3D Powerpoint presentation and the destruction of the Earth!
