Goa is often described as a fusion between Eastern and Western culture, and the architecture is greatly influenced by both Ottoman and Portuguese styles.

Goa is the land of sun, sea and sand. It lies within the coastal region known as the Konkan, and is India’s smallest state by area and fourth smallest by population. Goa has the highest GDP per capita of all Indian states, and is ranked first for quality of life in India by the National Commission on Population.

Over 450 years of Portuguese rule and the resulting influence of European culture creates a cultural environment that is not found anywhere elsewhere in India. Goa is often described as a fusion between Eastern and Western culture, and the architecture is greatly influenced by both Ottoman and Portuguese styles, with many churches and houses bearing striking elements of Portuguese architecture.
