With twenty five years of experience in the media and entertainment industry, Alaric has held significant leadership roles in both Australia and the US. He has led DNEG’s Sydney studio since its inception in 2022, overseeing the team’s work on a number of exciting projects led by our Sydney crew, including:

Eden

As the sole VFX partner on Ron Howard’s Eden, our Sydney crew led our global teams on the delivery of nearly 350 shots across 45 sequences. Spending three weeks on location, we captured the authentic native wildlife and environments needed to transform plates shot on the Gold Coast of Australia into the Galápagos Islands, seamlessly recreating the Galápagos ecosystem by blending practical footage and CG enhancements into a cohesive landscape. We’re now thrilled to be working with Ron on his next film, Alone at Dawn.

“A big thank you to the DNEG VFX team in Sydney. I've always enjoyed collaborating with DNEG over the years, from The Da Vinci Code to Rush and In The Heart of the Sea. For my last two films I've had the pleasure of working closely with the DNEG team in Australia, and they have been fantastic partners. Thanks for all the hard work, the problem-solving, and the incredible creativity!"
Ron Howard, Director

Play Dirty

Our team was proud to deliver close to 450 shots as the main VFX partner for Play Dirty, working across the film’s most ambitious and technically complex sequences, led by our Sydney studio. Though much of the film was shot in Sydney, our crew transported viewers to Los Angeles, delivering key environment extensions and hero assets integrated with detailed FX, animation and compositing to support the film’s grounded yet explosive action.

Mercy

As the lead VFX partner on Mercy, our DNEG teams across Sydney, Vancouver and India delivered around 800 shots and built a robust ingest pipeline to manage over 3000 subshots of holographic content. The action culminates in a large-scale truck chase through downtown Los Angeles, where our artists, led by our Sydney team, populated the city with CG traffic, crowds and Blackhawk helicopters. Many of the stunts and all of the destruction were achieved digitally, with the hero truck and police vehicles frequently replaced entirely with CG assets.
