Members of our DNEG crew in London have a great way to 'relax' after work: the VFX Football League! Comprised of 16 teams from VFX companies across London, the league hosts weekly games, providing a space outside of the office for VFX professionals to meet and connect.
Speaking about the league, DNEG's Jamie Booth (Goalkeeper on the field, Line Producer in the studio) said:
"DNEG Football has offered the opportunity for people across DNEG divisions to build relationships in a social atmosphere outside of work. A lot of the squad would not have come into contact with one another if it wasn't for the DNEG Football team and having the opportunity to bring people together for a common purpose has brought a lot of enjoyment to the staff. DNEG Football brings people into the office more often to attend matches and a lot of squad members recognise a match event as one of the highlights of their working week."
Chan Hong (Striker on the field, FX TD in the studio) added:
"I joined the team only 6 months ago, but I settled in pretty easily thanks to the warm welcome from other teammates and our immediate chemistry on the pitch!"
Joe Bumpus (Defender on the field, CG Supervisor in the studio) summed it up:
"A work-life balance can be difficult to achieve and even more difficult to keep consistent. Having said that, the DNEG Football team offers scheduled match fixtures - consistent events that span across the team's work and personal lives. This is the culmination of many people working together at DNEG and finding a common interest, such as football, to then spend valuable time out of work hours to participate in. I am grateful to be able to work in a space which attracts people with a plethora of interests that increases the likelihood of building relationships and strong peer connections, but I'm hugely appreciative of those people that want to use their personal time to manifest success towards a common goal - such as the DNEG Football team."
