Our crews in Vancouver were thrilled to attend an exclusive screening of Oscar-nominated Sirât earlier this week, hosted by Neon at the Vancouver International Film Festival Centre!

Sirât screening - VIFF

Nominated for 'Best International Feature' and 'Best Sound', Sirât tells the story of a father's search for his lost daughter, set at a rave deep in the mountains of southern Morocco.

The screening was followed by a Q&A with Academy Award Nominees Laia Casanovas (Supervising Sound Editor) and Yasmina Praderas (Re-Recording Mixer), moderated by our very own Amit Sharma (Head of Creative Operations - North America).

Sirat screening - Q&A

Following the session, Amit shared:

"The Q&A after the Sirât screening offered some great insight into the film’s creative process. It was clear that sound functioned almost like an additional actor in this documentary-style work. One of the most striking revelations was that the rave party at the heart of the film was entirely real — the team lived, shot, and recorded sound over an intense three-day party. The process was very much one of trial and error, with the director keen to explore and capture as much as possible on location, later complementing that material with studio recordings in Barcelona. During the discussion, Yasmina highlighted how closely the score and sound design were developed together to ensure a seamless handover between the two, while Laia reflected on how challenging — but ultimately very rewarding — it was to work on such a unique project, noting the team’s commitment to keeping the process as analog as possible."

Huge thank you to Neon, and to everyone who joined us!
