Introducing our DNEG Sydney Team

Welcoming Dan Bethell, Linda Luong, and Deb Cramb to DNEG Sydney!

Welcome to the first members of our new Sydney crew – Dan Bethell (VFX Supervisor), Linda Luong (Senior VFX Producer), and Deborah Cramb (Head of Talent Acquisition and Operations)!

Dan, Linda and Deb will join our Creative Director for Sydney, Andrew Jackson, in helping to lay the foundations for the new studio and to help build out the wider team for our tenth global DNEG location!

Dan Bethell, VFX Supervisor

Hitting the ground running, Dan will be serving as our VFX Supervisor for DNEG Sydney’s foundational project Furiosa. His 20+ years of on-set and post-production VFX experience, and his previous work on Mad Max: Fury Road (which earned him a VES Award), set him up perfectly to help deliver George Miller’s vision for this exciting new movie.

Dan’s creative and technical expertise, combined with his collaborative, calm and pragmatic attitude, has served him well while working across all aspects of some very large-scale productions – from leading on-set teams to supervising shots through to final delivery. Recent supervisory projects include Thor: Love & Thunder, Mortal Kombat, Extraction and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

On joining DNEG, Dan said:
“I’m so excited to start a new adventure with DNEG. It’s a great privilege to join such an amazing roster of VFX Supervisors and I’m especially looking forward to collaborating with Andrew again following our work together on ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’. We’re building a team of some of the best talent in Australia here at our new Sydney studio, and the opportunity to lead the visual effects for such an iconic and visionary filmmaker as George Miller is inspiring. His focus on storytelling and engaging the audience with every shot carries through the entire visual effects process. I can’t wait to lead our new team to deliver a truly spectacular visual experience for ‘Furiosa’!”
Linda Luong, Senior VFX Producer

Linda has also worked in the VFX and animation industry for over 20 years. She began her career at Walt Disney Australia, before moving to Animal Logic for George Miller’s Academy Award-winning animated feature film Happy Feet.

Following her work on Legend of the Guardians, Happy Feet Two and The Lego Movie, Linda moved into VFX and has never looked back. As a VFX Producer, she has overseen the production of many projects, including Thor: Love & Thunder, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Deepwater Horizon, WandaVision, and Mad Max: Fury Road. Her sheer love for visual storytelling and desire to bring her client’s ideas to life has helped her carve a strong path throughout her career, which has included time at studios such as Method, Fin Design + Effects, Animal Logic, and most recently at Luma Pictures.

On Joining DNEG, Linda said:
“I’ve admired the stunning work that DNEG consistently delivers for many years now, and to join the team at such an exciting time and with such exciting opportunities for the future – it’s a dream come true! I’m looking forward to bringing all my years of experience to this new role, building a rockstar production team and introducing new ideas while supporting our teams and helping them to continue delivering the legacy of excellence that this amazing company is already so well-known for.”
Deb Cramb, Head of Talent Acquisition & Operations

Deb brings 30+ years of experience in the VFX and animation industry to her role at our new studio. She began her career as an animation intern with Walt Disney Australia, where she progressed her career over a 17-year stint that saw her contributing in a variety of roles – from animator to producer to the Senior Management Team.

Since leaving Disney, Deb has played important roles at various studios, including Animal Logic, Method, and Industrial Light and Magic, refining her ability to recognise and attract exceptional talent and to create a people-centric ethos and culture that supports artists to produce their very best work.

On Joining DNEG, Deb said:
“The opening of DNEG’s latest global studio in Sydney, and the chance to work on a truly homegrown project like ‘Furiosa’ with visionary director George Miller, is a wonderful opportunity for the amazing visual effects talent we have here in Australia. Personally, I couldn’t be more excited about the challenges ahead – this is a chance to be a part of building a brand-new studio for one of the most respected visual effects companies in the world, and to help lay the foundations for a culture that is second-to-none. If this sounds interesting then drop me a line!”
