As a Senior Researcher in Artificial Intelligence (AI) at DNEG, Martine Bertrand is helping develop cutting-edge AI-driven technologies that can be applied to a variety of visual effects challenges, from creating realistic character animations to generating complex visual landscapes.

After obtaining her Ph.D. in computational physics from the University of Ottawa, Martine decided to focus on computational chemistry while also exploring the emerging field of AI, recognizing its potential for solving complex data driven problems. She then went on working at numerous startups seeking to develop AI-driven solutions for problems in language processing, medical imaging, and computer vision. In 2018 she began teaching physics to prospective VFX artists at the NAD school in Montreal, connecting AI and VFX.
