We’re thrilled to welcome the acclaimed animator Spencer Cook as DNEG’s new Animation Director, in Montreal.
A lifelong movie and animation fan, Spencer joins DNEG after recently completing work as Animation Supervisor on the highly anticipated Godzilla: King of the Monsters, slated for release at the end of next month.
His long and illustrious career spans more than 30 years, and includes many notable roles, including supervising animation on the second and third Matrix films and collaborating with the director Sam Raimi on the Spider-Man franchise.
In 2008, he was nominated for a BAFTA and VES award for his work on Spider-Man 3.
During the subsequent years, Spencer went on to supervise animation on a wide range of movies, including Alien: Covenant, The Smurfs 2, Men in Black 3, and Disney’s live-action reboot of Beauty and the Beast.

“I’ve been a fan of DNEG’s work for a long time,” said Spencer. “I’m excited to join the talented team in Montreal and look forward to helping shape creature animation at DNEG.”
Robyn Luckham, DNEG’s Global Head of Animation, added: “I couldn’t be happier to welcome Spencer to the global DNEG animation family, and continue the company’s amazing growth of animation, specifically in Montreal.
“He will be a supreme asset for us and the studio, bringing with him a wealth of animation knowledge and talent, strong connections to film studios, and an enthusiasm for animation that is 100% DNEG.”
