The 96th Academy Awards® took place last night and it was as glitzy and glamorous as always! While the world comes together to celebrate the outstanding films of the last year, we’d like to take a moment to highlight the incredible filmmaking crews behind two projects that DNEG is so proud of – Nimona and Oppenheimer.
Firstly, our beautiful, brave Nimona beat all the odds to make it to screens the world over, then won an incredibly well-deserved Oscar nomination for ‘Animated Feature Film’. Although Nimona didn’t bring home the Oscar last night, the film’s nomination alongside all those other wonderful animated movies is the crowning achievement of its long journey to reach our screens.
Massive congratulations on this honour to the entire DNEG Animation team (and our amazing Motion Graphics crew), and to Directors Nick Bruno and Troy Quane and Producers Karen Ryan and Julie Zackary.
It was such a thrill for our DNEG Animation team to work on this show! Led by Animation Director Ted Ty, Animation Producer Anthony Kemp & VFX Supervisors Yancy Lindquist and Archie Donato, our Nimona crew poured their hearts into each and every frame of this incredible tale. We couldn’t be prouder of the work they created helping bring ND Stevenson’s acclaimed work to life! Find out more about DNEG Animation’s work on Nimona here.
But it was Oppenheimer that dominated the 96th Academy Awards®, winning 7 awards including the coveted ‘Best Picture’ and Chris Nolan’s hugely deserved (and long overdue) first Oscar for ‘Directing’. Our heartfelt congratulations to Director/Producer Christopher Nolan and Producers Emma Thomas and Charles Roven, as well as the entire crew behind Oppenheimer!
DNEG was honoured to be the sole VFX partner on Oppenheimer and be part of the team behind Nolan’s latest masterpiece. Find out more about DNEG’s work on Oppenheimer here.
Congratulations again to all winners & nominees of the night!
